Privacy notice

In short: we only use your details to reply to your enquiry and do the work you ask for. We don't sell them, and this website doesn't use cookies or tracking.
Who we are
Irvine Plumbing & Heating is run by Derry Irvine, a sole trader based in Leven, Fife. Derry is responsible for your personal information (the “data controller”).
Questions about your data: email [email protected] or call 07802 846669.
What we collect
- Enquiry form: your name, phone number, town or postcode (if you add it), the type of work and any details you type.
- Email, phone or WhatsApp: your email address or number and whatever you send us.
- Your IP address (your device's internet address): used for a short time to stop spam, by counting how many enquiries come from one address. That count is deleted automatically after one hour.
The fault code checker works inside your browser. Nothing you type into it is sent to us.
Why we use it
To reply to your enquiry, give you a quote and arrange any work. The law allows this because you've asked us to take steps before a possible contract (a quote or booking), and because we have a legitimate interest in replying to messages and keeping the website free of spam. We won't send you marketing.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not set any cookies and does not use analytics, tracking pixels or adverts. There are no embedded Facebook, Google Maps or video players, and the text uses fonts already on your device. Links to WhatsApp and boiler makers' websites take you to those sites, and their own privacy policies apply there.
Who we share it with
We never sell your details. We only use these services to run the website and the form:
- Cloudflare: hosts this website and runs the enquiry form.
- Brevo: the email service that delivers form enquiries to Derry.
- Microsoft (Hotmail): Derry's email inbox, where enquiries arrive.
- goclarity.uk (Business Clarity): built and looks after this website and its form.
- WhatsApp (Meta): only if you choose to message us on WhatsApp.
Some of these companies may handle data outside the UK. When they do, they use safeguards approved under UK data protection law.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted, unless you become a customer. For customers, we keep job and invoice records for as long as needed for the work, any guarantee and the law (for example, tax records are kept for about 6 years).
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete your information
- stop using it (object)
- limit how we use it (restrict)
- get a copy to take elsewhere (portability)
Just email or call Derry using the details above. We'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
